Leokani for Android

An app, and a text-to-speech engine for TalkBack and other apps. Needs Android 9 or later. Offline.

Install

On the phone, download Leokani-1.1.apk and open it. Allow installs from that source when asked.

From a computer with adb:

Speak

Type something and tap Speak. Speed sets the pace, from 0.75× to 1.5×. Save as WAV… and Share keep the speech as a 24 kHz WAV file.

System voice

In Settings, search for Text-to-speech output, set Preferred engine to Leokani. TalkBack and any app that uses Android's text-to-speech then speak with Leokani, at the speech rate set on that screen.
